What do I need to bring on my trip?
What you need will depend on the specific trip, but the following list should cover most of what one might need on a mountain trek. Also keep in mind that many of the more commonplace/non-clothing items can be rented from Alpine Ascents Africa (e.g., tents, sleeping bags, boots).
- 80 L rucksack & 35 L daypack, with rain repellant covers.
- Tent and ground cloth (three or four season).
- Sleeping bag rated to 0 to -10 degrees C.
- Sleeping pad (foam or inflatable).
- Boots that will accept crampons.
- Water bottles (to hold about 3 L).
- Gloves and warm hat.
- Sunscreen and sun hat.
- Head lamp and batteries.
- Rain jacket and pants.
- Sunglasses.
- Warm underwear for cold nights.
- Fleece jumper/sweater or down vest.
- Fleece or other insulating type of pants.
- Light, loose fighting cotton trousers.
- T-shirts (ideally wool).
- 6 pairs of thermal hiking socks.
- 4 pairs of thermal socks liners.
- Gaiters.
- Trekking poles.
- Pocket knife.
- Binoculars.
- A few trail snacks.
- Water purifying tablets.
- Light towel.
- Sneakers or sandals for camp.
- Bandana.
- Toothpaste & brush, body lotion, toilet paper, etc.
- Note book, pencil, sketch book, plastic bags, ear plugs.
What does the price of the trip include and exclude?

Terms and conditions
Transportation—Alpine Ascents Africa shall employ the services of sub-contracted transport to effect transportation on trips.
Change of Itinerary—Alpine Ascents Africa reserves the right to alter or cancel any program, including the route proposed in an itinerary, depending on circumstances, particularly dangerous weather conditions or health of clients, guides, cooks, and/or porters.
Change of guide—If one of our guides is unable to conduct a safari, trek, or climb due to sickness, the company reserves the right to make a substitution.
Deposits—To book hotels and pay for the other expenses of preparing a trip, Alpine Ascents Africa requests a 40 % deposit for most trips.
Liability—Alpine Ascents Africa acts only as an agent for the client, and shall not be held responsible for injuries, loss or damages to property, delays and inconveniences arising out of, or in connection with, any defect in any vessel of transport, including any act of terrorism, common act of government, war, and/or natural calamity. However, Alpine Ascents Africa ensures that everyone under their employment maintains high levels of safety, hygiene, and customer care.
